DNA barcode reference libraries: Achievements of the DNAqua-Net Working Group 1
نویسندگان
چکیده
The three main aims for the DNAqua-Net working group 1 (WG1) have been i) to identify gaps in barcode reference libraries of European aquatic species, ii) fill these collaboration with ongoing initiatives, and iii) facilitate knowledge transfer initiate work on regions where such activity was low (Leese et al. 2016). WG1 currently has 129 members from 39 countries spanning four continents, a majority Europe. In our presentation we show achievements during lifetime COST action (CA15219; 2016-2021), discuss some highlights obtained through collaborative joint dissemination. Specifically, emphasize outcomes presented two peer-reviewed scientific publications that focus standards building DNA libraries, databases organisms used national biomonitoring programs (Rimet 2021, Weigand 2019). However, major were also workshops (Braga, Pécs, Limassol & Bratislava) activities 16 short-term missions (STSMs).

Improved protocols to accelerate the assembly of DNA barcode reference libraries for freshwater zooplankton
Currently, freshwater zooplankton sampling and identification methodologies have remained virtually unchanged since they were first established in the beginning of the XX century. One major contributing factor to this slow progress is the limited success of modern genetic methodologies, such as DNA barcoding, in several of the main groups. This study demonstrates improved protocols which enable...
متن کاملBuilding freshwater macroinvertebrate DNA-barcode libraries from reference collection material: formalin preservation vs specimen age
As part of its ongoing work in biomonitoring, Environment Canada’s Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN) program has assembled an expert-verified reference collection of 3864 specimens of 604 species of Canadian freshwater macroinvertebrates. Such collections are a key resource for developing a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) barcode library to facilitate molecular identification of biomon...
متن کاملThe DNA Barcode Linker.
DNA barcoding is based on the use of short DNA sequences to provide taxonomic tags for rapid, efficient identification of biological specimens. Currently, reference databases are being compiled. In the future, it will be important to facilitate access to these databases, especially for nonspecialist users. The method described here provides a rapid, web-based, user-friendly link between the DNA...
متن کاملWorking group 1 report
Working group one focused on problems associated with the use of distributed applications. Initially several possible topics of discussion were considered including the growth of the world wide web (WWW), problems of lag across networks, the high resource requirements of particular tasks in distributed collaboration and the impact on current theories and techniques for design and modelling. The...

Considerable research efforts have been made to detect and understand the variations in the entire spectral band and in the near-UV, visible and infrared spectral bands since the SOLERS22 1991. Workshop. Besides the ERB on NIMBUS7 and the ERBE experiments on ERBS, NOAA9 and NOAA1O satellites, additional space experiments provided data for total irradiance. The ACRIM 11 radiometer on board the U...
